L’Ombrellone L’Ombrellone

Six Wines to Enjoy Outdoors

L’OMBRELLONE is the perfect way to see out the last days of summer. Whether pretty and perfumed or savoury and spiced, they are the perfect wines for drinking right now.

QUARTICELLO
Despina 2018

Emilia-Romagna, Italy

From his family’s vineyards just outside Parma in Emilia-Romagna, Roberto Maestri makes some wonderful sparkling wines. Made from local variety Malvasia di Candia, this cloudy sparkling wine offers a gentle fizz and refreshing flavours of grapefruit.

CERRUTI
Fol 2018

Piemonte, Italy

A native of the Langhe, Ezio is the undisputed maestro of Moscato and this ranks as one of our favourite wines for aperitivo. The grape’s hallmark aromatics really come to the fore here with gentle floral notes and refreshing flavours of green citrus. A wine that just screams summer.

LE COSTE
Ripazzo Bianco 2018

Lazio, Italy

Gianmarco and Clementine are one of the most respected growers in Italy and the vineyards they tend around the volcanic shores of Lago di Bolsena are amongst the most beautiful we have seen. This blend of Procanico, Malvasia, Moscato and more is wild, rustic amber wine with plenty of citrus fruit, firm tannins and no shortage of energy.

BARRACO
Rosammare 2019

Sicily, Italy

Nino is deeply passionate about the grapes and terroirs of his native Sicily and is a pioneer for organic farming in Marsala. This lively rosato comes from an early harvest of Nero d’Avola from a vineyard right by the sea. With bright, tart fruit and just a hint  of tannin, it screams for a plate of anchovies or some grilled sardines.

MONTEFORCHE
Lo Sfuso di Collina 2019

Veneto, Italy

Alfonso Soranzo is a humble, hard working grower who tends his family’s vineyards in the hills of the Colli Euganei in Veneto. Grown on volcanic soils, this blend of Cabernet Franc and a number of local varieties pairs plenty of black fruit with a hint of herbs and spice. It is everything we look for in a great vino da tavola.

TUTTI FRUTTI ANANAS
Morango 2019

Roussillon, France

The sort of wine Manuel and his friends love to drink down in the sun-soaked village of Banyuls-sur-Mer, right by the Mediterranean. A gentle infusion of Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Mourvèdre has produced a perfumed, herbaceous red wine with a wonderfully savoury note.
