ROSSO offers a rotating selection of our favourite reds of the moment. Whether light, bright and nimble wines from cooler climes, or the deep, savoury and soothing things we enjoy from the Mediterranean, the common thread is purity, energy and intrigue.

GUTTAROLO
Joha 2023
Puglia, Italy
Primitivo from Cristiano’s oldest vines, which are around fifty years old. Here the grapes were destemmed and macerated for three weeks, before being pressed to large porcelain amphorae for a year of rest. Heady with blackcurrant, earth, herbs and brine, a trio of tannin, flesh and acid brings no shortage of refreshment, making this the perfect foil to whatever cuts are coming off the grill.

SAMUEL BOULAY
Baltringue 2021
Ardèche, France
This remains our favourite expression of Merlot. This was fermented in cuve as whole bunches for a fortnight, before being pressed off to vats for a year of elévage. Reflecting the vintage, it is lighter and brighter than previous years, with fine tannins framing gentle notes of blackberry, earth and iron.

LES PETITES MISES
Les Petites Mises Rouge 2019
Hérault, France
A blend of Syrah and Carignan from vines young and old planted over clay and limestone soils. The former was picked first, destemmed and fermented on the skins for around three weeks, before being pressed and blended with the Carignan. After around a week, the wine was pressed, resting for nearly four years in a combination of glass demijohns and terracotta amphorae. A deeper, more mature expression of site, here dark, brambly fruits are framed by just the right amount of tannin, herbs and spice.
Carignan, Syrah
