ROSSO offers a rotating selection of our favourite reds of the moment. Whether light, bright and nimble wines from cooler climes, or the deep, savoury and soothing things we enjoy from the Mediterranean, the common thread is purity, energy and intrigue.

LE COSTE
Litrozzo Rosso 2023 [1L]
Lazio, Italy
The original and the best picnic wine, this is a blend of Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Merlot from Montefiascone that were destemmed and spent just a few days on skins, before being pressed off to cuve to rest until bottling in spring. A cooler vintage has produced a lighter, brighter wine with clean notes of red cherry and black liquorice. Served chilled, this is is Italy’s answer to great Beaujolais.

MONTEFORCHE
Lo Sfuso di Collina 2023
Veneto, Italy
A tribute to the kind of wines Alfonso’s father and grandfather were making on this farm for many years. This is a textbook vino da tavola from young, healthy vines. A blend of Cabernet Franc and a number of heirloom varietals, this spends a couple of weeks on skins before ageing in cement for nine months. A spritely wine that often carries a little spritz upon opening, the nose laden with pepper, the palate full of little black fruits. A bottle to reach for time and time again.

BENOIT CAMUS
Château Roulant 2023
Beaujolais, France
Gamay from vines up to sixty years old, from a number of parcels and terroirs. This spent two weeks macerating as whole bunches, before being pressed off to concrete and cuve for a short élevage. From a cooler vintage, there is a luminous quality to the deep cherry-red fruit and an earthy mineral note from the varied soils that make this incredibly moreish.
