ROSSO offers a rotating selection of our favourite reds of the moment. Whether light, bright and nimble wines from cooler climes, or the deep, savoury and soothing things we enjoy from the Mediterranean, the common thread is purity, energy and intrigue.

ARPEPE
Rosso di Valtellina 2023
Lombardy, Italy
As always a Nebbiolo that over delivers in every way. From vines more than fifty years old planted over granite, fruit is sourced from the lower parts of their parcels across the various crus at around four hundred metres above sea level. The grapes undergo a long, gentle maceration in tini, before being pressed off to big old chestnut casks for a year’s rest. Fruit forward, pretty and perfumed, this is a perfect introduction to the Mountain Nebbiolo this family does so well.

LAMBERT SPIELMANN
Complètement Red 2023
Alsace, France
Pinot Noir from a twenty five year old parcel planted over sandstone in Nothalten, fermented as whole bunches for ten days before being pressed off to a mix of demi-muids and vats until the following spring. Combining bright red berries with just the right amount of earth and funk, this sums up everything we love about great Pinot from this part of the world.

DOMAINE SAUVETERRE
Promess 2021
Burgundy, France
Gamay from a forty year old vineyard planted over gentle slopes of pure limestone in Uchizy. The grapes were fermented as whole bunches for a month, before being pressed off to old barrels for a year of élevage. Luminous in the glass, this offers a cascade of raspberries and minerals, making for an uplifting wine of real energy.
